A Match Made in Prison, ‘Orange is the New Black’ Series Writer and Samira Wiley Marry

Samira Wiley, better known as Pussey Washington, married Orange is the New Black writer Lauren Moreli in a wedding described as a “colorful confetti-themed celebration.” The couple, who met on the hit Netflix show, took to Instagram to share the news with a picture showcasing the happy couple dressed to kill at the outdoor ceremony. Moreli began working on the series with her then-husband writer Steve Basilone in 2014, but realized in the process of writing the show that she is gay (this was revealed in an an awesome essay for Mic.com).

“I was nervous about the first love scene I’d written for Alex and Piper. I’d loved writing it, loved watching a tenderness emerge in their relationship where passion always seemed to be the ruling principle, but by that time, I was so deep in my own self-doubt that I constantly felt like a fraud,” she wrote in the article. “I was sure it was bleeding into my writing. How could it not? I was married to a man, but I wasn’t straight.”

Congrats you two!
