Late Late Show‘s James Corden may have pioneered the viral sensation known as “Carpool Karaoke,” but Apple Music is the one driving away with the idea. The extended version of the segment that has seen stars like Britney Spears, Adele, Madonna, and George Michael will now get 16 half-hour episodes that will air exclusively on Apple Music. Corden won’t be hosting the series, instead each episode will have a new celebrity driver. The half-hour will also allow for longer interviews.
“What James does is so special and singular, it was silly, as we figured out how to make a full series, to try and replicate that,” Co-executive Producer Ben Winston said.
“We wouldn’t do Will Smith on [‘Late Late Show’],” Winston said. “So many people have been getting in touch with us, big movie stars, and we’re like, ‘that’s not really for us,’ but here with Apple Music it’s perfect.”
