Australian Straight Couple Who Promised to End Marriage if Gay Marriage Passes is Refusing to Do So

Now that gay and lesbian marriage is legalized in Australia, the country is looking to Nick and Sarah Jensen, a Christian couple who vowed that they would get divorced if marriage equality past (because that’s the Christian thing to do). The Australian couple said in 2015 that they would end their marriage in protest of the passage of the law, but now they two are refusing to do so.
Back in 2015, they made this bold statement: “The decision to divorce is not one we’ve taken lightly…As Christians, we believe marriage is not a human invention…My wife and I, as a matter of conscience, refuse to recognise the government’s regulation of marriage if its definition includes the solemnization of same sex couples.”

Now, how is this ridiculous couple backtracking? News.com.au caught up the duo who now say: “My previous public comments regarding civil divorce never envisaged me separating from my wife, but rather our marriage from the state. The legislation currently makes it untenable for us to do this under the law. The point we were highlighting and that still stands however is the fact that a redefinition of marriage changes the agreement under which we were originally married.”

And as more news agencies and Australians demand that the two put their money where their mouth is. They wrote said “We will be making no further comment.”

Not that we want to see any loving couple divorced, it be nice to see these two follow through.
