British ‘Vogue’ Welcomes First Gay and Male Editor

Edward Enninful has been announced as the new editor if the UK’s Vogue—making him the first male to hold this title. He’ll be taking over for Alexandra Schulman who was at the magazine’s helm for 25 years. Enninful was born in Ghana, but moved to London at a very young age, he took his first steps in the fashion world when he was just 16 after being scouted as a model.
For 20 years he worked at i-D magazine and then at W.

Chairman and Chief Executive of Condé Nast Internation Jonathan Newhouse said that Enninful was an easy pick as he’s helped “…shape the cultural zeitgeist.”

And added: “By virtue of his talent and experience, Edward is supremely prepared to assume the responsibility of British Vogue.” [GT]
