Canadian Eric Radford Becomes First Openly Gay Skater to Win Gold Medal in Winter Olympics

The team figure skating event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea ended with an historic moment. Eric Radford became the first openly gay Olympic athlete to take home a gold medal in the Winter Olympics. Radford and his partner Megan Duhamel won the honor after completing a near-perfect skate to Adele’s “Hometown Glory.”

Adam Rippon, also made history, when he took home the bronze—becoming the first medal winner for a US openly gay athlete.

Bisexual Ireen Wust became the most successful Dutch Olympian of all time when she won the women’s 1500 speed skating. This was her tenth time participating in the Olympics. [Yahoo]
