China Sets New Regulations to Ban Gay Internet Content

China has already banned the depiction of LGBT characters on television, and now the country wants to erase them from the Internet. The country’s government is hoping to block LGBT content, which is considered “abnormal sexual behavior.” Gay has been lumped together with other Chinese Internet no-nos like terrorism and superstition.

The new policy will be enforced through professional censors who will ensure that content containing the above words is not accessible.

“The false information in these regulations has already caused harm to the Chinese LGBT community – who are already subjected to prejudice and discrimination,” The Chinese LGBT magazine commented.

Interestingly enough, Chinese businesses see big money in the LGBT community, with one even purchasing Grindr. PN
