Cocktail Music: Kyle Motsinger

Kyle Motsinger originally from Illinois, first discovered his love of performing as a boy in his community theatre’s production of Charlotte’s Web (aww). He continued performing in theatre productions through the late 90s and only discovered his passion for writing music when he discovered the digital keyboard. The musical theater major eventually moved to NYC and got work as Lionel in “Fancy Nancy the Musical” at Off-Broadway’s Vital Theatre Company.

Kyle switched gears and started writing pop/rock songs with a theatrical flair.  He felt inspired by a mix of musical theatre and artists like Tori Amos, Ben Folds, Billy Joel, Kate Bush, and many other pop/rock/alternative artists he loved to listen to. In May of 2015 he performed an hour of his original music at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, the famed New York performance venue. As he finished his final song of the night, he knew that was the path he needed to follow. He followed that with performances at venues such as “The Bitter End” and “Leftfield on Ludlow.” In September of 2015 he started recording his debut album, “Far Away” and finished production in December of 2016.
