Big-name performers abound at the Montreux Jazz Festival from June 30-July 15. Both jazz musicians and pop artists will be represented, including Lionel Richie, Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, Sam Smith, and John Legend. This time-honored festival was founded by Claude Nobs in 1967, and while it started out more exclusively geared toward jazz, it’s gone on to also include a diverse array of musical genres. Miles Davis, David Bowie, Ray Charles, and Prince are just a few of the festival’s alumni. Taking place across the Swiss city of Montreux, the festival is held at 12 venues and all but two of them are free of charge. It’s the kind of festival that truly offers something for everyone. www.montreuxjazz.com
