Gay Activists Top Poland’s Music Charts with this Christmas Celebration of Queer Families

Jakub Kwiecinski and David Mycek were previously known in Poland for beginning a campaign called #PolandWakeUp and a lip-synch video of Roxette’s “Some Other Summer” that put them in the national spotlight. Now, the gay couple have the number one Christmas song in the country. Unexpected, huh? The duo’s catchy holiday anthem, “Love Us for Christmas,” celebrates all types of families and includes 30 queer people from across their country.

“‘During Christmas time there is a magic kindness between people,” Jakub said. “We just wanted to use this moment to draw people’s attention to our issues and make them understand us,” he added.
