Vice President Pence is officially leading the US Olympic delegation to the 2018 Winter Olympics, but some feel the vice president’s anti-gay, conservative beliefs don’t represent them. One such person is openly gay figure skater Adam Rippon has been making the rounds discussing his outrage over the move to have Pence represent the US. Pence’s team had become so concerned over the bad press that they asked Rippon to a one on one with the vp. Rippon turned it down.
The spat began when Rippon was asked by USA Today about how he felt about Pence leading the delegation in the opening ceremony: “You mean Mike Pence, the same Mike Pence that funded gay conversion therapy? I’m not buying it,” Rippon said.
Rippon said that right now he is solely focusing on training and not meeting with Pence.
