Passengers on the London Tube will no longer hear “ladies and gentleman” when the train conductor or pre-recorded announcements are made—as the city goes further to be more inclusive. The London Underground staff were told to simple say “good morning everyone” to make sure that a ll passengers feel “welcome” when using public transit.
“We want everyone to feel welcome on our transport network,” said Mark Evers, director of customer strategy at TfL.
“We have reviewed the language that we use in announcements and elsewhere and will make sure that it is fully inclusive, reflecting the great diversity of London.”
Transport for London said the prerecorded message changes will occur in the next few months.
