“On Monday, September 14, 2009, Olympic gold medal diver Greg Louganis and Jeanne White-Ginder, mother of Ryan White, will hold a press conference to unveil a new exhibit at the International Swimming Hall of Fame in Fort Lauderdale. The Hall of Fame will now feature all of Louganis’ eight Olympic medals. Louganis had given his 1988 medal to Ryan White, a hemophilic and one of the first children in the United States to be diagnosed with AIDS.”
During the 1988 Olympic Games, Louganis hit his head during a dive. He fought passed the injury and went on to win the gold medal. He dedicated the medal to Ryan White. To check out more information about the exhibit check out the International Swimming Hall of Fame website.
