Aston Hotels & Resorts have teamed up with the Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative to create a first-of-its-kind program. Guests at the Aston Kona now have the option to participate in Hawaiian Legacy Tours, a great new entry in the burgeoning ecotourism world. Aston Kona guests have the option to plant a tree and “tour a historic forest on the slopes of the Mauna Kea volcano.” To participate in the program, guests will need to purchase a package (starting at $212 per night) that includes two adult tickets for the 90-minute Planters Tour.
The Hawaiian Legacy Reforestation Initiative started out about four years ago. They have planted about 250,000 endangered species of trees in the 50th state, including endemic koa, sandalwood, and more.
The state of Hawaii once boasted much more forested land, and this effort is a great way for tourists to show respect for the place they are visiting. Why not help keep Hawaii ecologically rich, you’ll help ensure that future visitors have as great a visit as you did!
