It’s only 104 days until Halloween but cult-horror queen and gay icon Elvira is always in season. Dynamite Comics has just announced a new deal bringing the mistress of the dark back to comic books along with more merchandising deals.
Elvira had a 166 issue run in the 90s under Claypool Comics and appeared in DC Comics (home to Batman and Wonder Woman) DC’s House of Mystery. Now she’s poised to appear again at Dynamite Comics who is home another cult horror icon Vampirella and Ash of the Evil Dead franchise. Let’s hope this team up happens quickly.
Elvira rose to fame in the 80s as the horror host on the Movie Macabre series and she produced, wrote, and starred in two films Elvira, Mistress of The Dark and Elvira’s Haunted Hills. She has shown up throughout pop culture including reality shows RuPaul’s Drag Race and Face Off. She also appears in the current video game franchise Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare zombie mode expansion.
Elvira has bean played by the sickening Cassandra Peterson for more than three decades.
