Finally, the island nation of Jamaica may be tackling the rampant anti-LGBT violence that takes place there head on. Now with a gay-friendly prime minister, Jamaica’s Minister of Justice Mark Goolding may introduce LGBT non-discrimination legislation. Goolding hinted at introducing legislation in an interview with RJR news: “I don’t think the courts under the present configuration are the  mechanism by which persons will be vindicated,” said said. “I think it will require some legislative intervention.” Even if legislation is ever passed in Jamaica, the former British colony will still have buggary laws in place that threaten to imprison homosexuals.
