BTS (a major K-Pop group) known as the Bangtan Boys took to Twitter to recommend a song from the Love, Simon soundtrack. The seven-member band made the tweet to their thousands of fans who collectively freaked out. The song, “Strawberries and Cigarettes” by openly gay artist Troye Sivan was used in the coming-of-age gay movie.
For the typically conservative world of Korean music, it is a huge deal for the band to promote a film with a main gay character.
The tweet by the member RM has been retweeted over 120,000 times and has nearly a half-a-million likes.
