Critically acclaimed LGBTQ graphic novel Flutter will be developed into a scripted series by Universal Cable Productions and Dark Horse Entertainment.
The comic book created by writer Jennie Wood and artist Jeff McComsey follows 15-year-old shapeshifter Lily who transforms into a boy in order to get the straight girl she has a crush on; consequences and repercussions ensue. Katherine Lindberg and Marc Rosen (Sense8) are writing the television adaptation.
Several other publications are being developed as well including Mind MGMT, The Bright Sessions, and Tanis. This follows on the heels of the previous announcement that graphic novel Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way (from the band My Chemic Romance) and Gabriel Bá, has been picked up by Netflix.
Dark Horse Comis has had several of its comics and graphic novels adapted to the screen since the company debuted in 1986. Television series and movies include Time Cop, Dark Matter, The Mask, Robocop, Tank Girl, 300, and Hellboy.
