The New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission voted to designate the Stonewall Inn, the location of the world-famous Stonewall riots, as an individual landmark, today. The unanimous vote from the committee is historical as it is the first landmark in the city designated for its place in LGBT history.

The Stonewall Inn is currently located in Greenwich Village Historic District, but with the the vote, the Commission recognizes it as an individual New York City Landmark. [7]
