Panasonic to Recognize Gay Married Couples in Japan

Japanese society isn’t known for being the most tolerant when it comes to LGBT rights, but leading the way for acceptance is not the government but companies. Japan’s major electronics maker, Panasonic Corp, will now change company policy and recognize gay and lesbian marriages in a move that signals a major change in Japanese society. The company will review changes in its code of conduct too that would ban discrimination.

According to CNN: “The review was prompted by requests from its employees, global trends, and its status as a sponsor of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics…”
