For the first time ever, the United States has two openly gay olympians competing at a games. Skier Gus Kenworthy planted an adorable cheek kiss on figure skater Adam Rippon and posted about it throughout their social media channels.
“Tonight I walked in the #OpeningCeremony and got to watch my old friend @Yunaaaa light the Olympic flame,” Rippon, 28, wrote alongside a Twitter photo of himself with 26-year-old Kenworthy. “Representing the USA is one of the greatest honors of my life and being able to do it as my authentic self makes it all so much sweeter.”
This is the first time that the two athletes were able to meet in person, but have been in touch through their social media channels after each made it on to the Olympic team.
