Air Canada Passenger Finds Sewing Needle in Sandwich

How could this happen…again?

A passenger’s health was put at risk while eating a prepackaged sandwich on an Air Canada flight from Victoria to Toronto. After discovering that the sandwich contained a sewing needle, the airline immediately took action. According to Air Canada’s spokeswoman, Angela Mah, the airline contacted its caterers to ensure that an increase of security would be implemented during this time. The police are now investigating the case. Strangely enough, this isn’t the first time this has happened. Two weeks prior to this incident, several Delta Airline flights originating out of Amsterdam served turkey sandwiches that also contained sewing needles. One passenger on their way to Minneapolis was injured, and the FBI is currently investigating the case. Authorities are now wondering whether the Amsterdam catering company, Gate Gourmet, or a subsidiary of the company could be the source of the tainted sandwiches on Air Canada. It is still uncertain because Spokeswoman Mah says that Air Canada uses more than one caterer.
