Alexander Skarsgård channeled his inner 1970’s diva last night when he dressed in drag at the San Francisco premiere of his new film Diary of a Teenage Girl
Rocking a gold gown, fake eyelashes, and some long blonde feathered hair, the 6 ft 4 in actor didn’t give a reason for his fashion choices, although E! speculated that it may have been homage to his co-star Joshua Grannell, a drag performer named Peaches Christ who plays a transvestite in the film.
The movie, which opens in a limited release on August 7th, is based on Phoebe Gloeckner’s graphic novel in which Skarsgård’s character Monroe has an affair with his girlfriend’s (Kristen Wiig) 15-year-old daughter Minnie, played by Bel Powley, the heroine of the film.
