American Idol‘s first openly lesbian contestant, MK Nobilette, performed a rendition of John Legend’s “All of Me” and made the crowd go wild. In the audience were her two moms, who easily couldn’t hold their excitment. “I’m very obviously gay, and there are always gonna be people in America and everywhere else who will definitely hate me,” the 20-year-old said before her original audition, making her the first contestant in the show’s 13 years to publically speak about her sexuality while on air.  “But I think that in the last two years there have been a lot of things that have really changed that, and have made it a positive thing,” she added.
