Diving darling Matthew Mitcham is set to make literary news when his autobiography Twists and Turns is released by HarperCollins on November 19th. The Australian diver’s story begins with his being discovered at age 11, while already a champion trampoline gymnast. The book includes his struggles with self-doubt (which, at one point led to him quit diving and find work at the local circus), and his gold-medal win at the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he set the highest single-dive score in Olympic history. Twists and Turns may quickly become a bestseller due to the high volume of followers that admire Mitcham for both his athletic success, as well as for his determination to live honestly and openly as a gay man while in the public eye.

Graeme Aitken, from the Bookshop Darlinghurst, will help host a launch party for the book on Tuesday, November 20 at the Midnight Shift Hotel in Sydney.
