A transgender woman has filed a human rights complaint against a salon that refused to give her a wax. The woman, who is going by JY, issued the complaint to the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal after a tanning salon in Surrey, British Columbia refused services over Facebook.
When asked on Facebook whether or not the salon did Brazilians, the salon replied: “Not for men sorry.”
After saying that yes, she is indeed a woman and transitioned “a while ago,” the salon didn’t answer.
She is now seeking damages and an apology from Mad Wax, according to the Calgary Sun.
The problem is larger, though, as JY contacted 18 salons and just three responded.
