With this year’s elections putting so much at stake for young people in the LGBT community, the Human Rights Campaign and Rock the Vote have partnered on the theme of “Come Out and Vote for Equality” for this years’ National Coming Out Day. With the quickly approaching presidential election, as well as measures on some states ballots that will determine the fate of marriage equality, this year it is more important than ever to publicly stand up as a proud LGBT American. The effort to mobilize young people to spread the word about the importance of electing fair-minded candidates to their families and friends will ensure a growing sense of acceptance across the nation.
This will be the 14th National Coming Out Day, a celebratory day dedicated to promoting awareness of the LGBT community, where young people across the country are encouraged to be open about their sexuality, and “come out” to their friends and family.
