Cocktail Music: I Need a Forest Fire by James Blake

In May, James Blake dropped his first new release in three years on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, announcing his new album, The Colour in Anything, just hours before it became available worldwide and on Spotify. His first release, “I Need a Forest Fire,” sees a collaboration with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, with a forthcoming album of his own, 22/10, while the second release “Radio Silence” is the album’s former title track.

Blake is in true form with tender yet cutting vocals that beg for a whole album to collaborate with Bon Iver. On meeting Vernon for the first time, Blake told Pitchfork: “Justin is an incredibly warm man. We’ve become really good friends. When I first met him, it felt like we had been separated somewhere down the line and were meeting each other again. It was a very strange feeling.”
