Singer and songwriter Cody Belew shot to fame after making it to the Top 8 of the popular singing competition show, The Voice. Since then, he’s become a seasoned performer and passionate advocate for LGBTQ equality. Belew, who is gay, also just launched a new country Christmas song titled ‘Hang Your Hat On My Christmas Tree‘, which is set to be used in Paramount’s new LGBTQ holiday film, Dashing in December.
The film, which will simulcast on Paramount Network, TV Land, POP, and Logo on Sunday, December 13th, takes the classic holiday chick flick and turns it upside by adding an LGBTQ twist. When hunky Wyatt returns to his rustic hometown for Christmas, he discovers a new, unexpected (and hunky) surprise. The film stars acting legend Andie MacDowell as well as Juan Pablo Di Pace.
Luckily, fans of Christmas music don’t have to wait until the film premieres on December 13th to hear Belew’s new song. It’s already been uploaded to YouTube, as well as streaming services like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, and more.
This also isn’t Belew’s first dive into the holiday spirit. Last year he released a hauntingly beautiful version of the classic Joni Mitchell song, River.
Tune into Dashing in December, Sunday, December 13th, and check out Cody Belew’s new Christmas classic Hang Your Hat On My Christmas Tree, streaming everywhere.
