CW Picks Up Superhero Show Based on ‘The Ray’ Featuring Gay Showrunner

Times are definitely changing in the superhero/sci-fi world, and now thanks to the CW, a gay superhero is coming to the silver screen. The teen-centric network has picked up Freedom Fighters: The Ray, a show based on the mythology of Raymond Terrill, a reporter who uncovers a secret government project. During his investigation, though, he gets hit with a weapon that turns him into a super-human instead of killing him.

We’ll first get an introduction to the character on CW’s other shows, The Arrow or The Flash. And the CW president expects the series to premiere in 2017. [ComicbooksResources]
