Openly lesbian stage and screen actress Cynthia Nixon has signed on to play the prolific Emily Dickinson in an upcoming film. The biopic titled A Quiet Passion was helmed by Terrence Davies (Deep Blue Sea, The Neon Bible, The House of Mirth) “I wrote the screenplay with Cynthia in mind. It was the kind of dream casting you hope for. I never, for a moment, imagined my wishes would materialize. Cynthia has such a strong feeling for the work—and now she is our Emily Dickinson. I’m over the moon,” Davies told The Hollywood Reporter. This is the second biggest news story this week surrounding Emily Dickinson. This week, historians believe to have found only the second photo ever of the writer—and it is believed that she is pictured with her rumored lesbian lover. No word on whether or not the film will revolve around this relationship. [BroadwayWorld] & [Today]
