While Director Gavin Hood of X-Men Wolverine Origins didn’t focus too much on Marvel’s anti-hero Deadpool’s sexual orientation, the director of the upcoming film, Deadpool, tells fans that the character will most definitely be pansexual.
In a chat with the website Collider, Director Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, answered some questions about the character’s sexuality.
“Does this mean it will be a very hypersexualized Deadpool?” the site asked.
“Pansexual!” Miller replied. “I want that quoted. Pansexual Deadpool.”
The co-creator of the comic book Deadpool, Fabian Nicieza, spoke of the character’s sexuality in 2013: “Deadpool is whatever sexual inclination his brain tells him he is in THAT moment. And then the moment passes,” Nicieza wrote on Twitter. “Not trying to be dismissive, but readers always want to ‘make a character their own’ and often that is to the exclusion of what the character might mean to other fans. I’ve been dogged with the DP sexuality questions for YEARS. It is a bit tiring. He is NO sex and ALL sexes. He is yours and everyone else’s. So not dismissive, but rather the epitome of inclusive,” he told Comicbook Resources.
