While lawmakers continue to fail to act on gun control, Dick’s Sporting Goods announced today that it will lead by banning the sale of assault-style rifles and high-capacity magazines, raising the sale of guns to people at least 21 years of age. While the company has already said they are expecting a blowback from gun rights advocates, they are more concerned about potentially saving people’s lives, Dick’s CEO Edward Stack said.
“As we sat and talked about it with our management team, it was — to a person — that this is what we need to do,” he said. “These kids talk about enough is enough. We concluded if these kids are brave enough to organize and do what they’re doing, we should be brave enough to take this stand.”
