Disney Ditches Gender Labels on Halloween Costumes

In a move that has received a popular reaction, Disney has announced that this year’s wildly popular set of Halloween costumes will no longer be marked boys or girls, but be labeled simply “kids.” The gender-neutral labeling is part of Disney’s “I am Awesome” campaign for Halloween. Gender neutral is also becoming increasingly popular as companies like Target have already stopped labeling toy sections by gender. The US Disney Halloween store lists every item “…for kids,” though the images used show girls and boys modeling the costumes, but the UK store goes further by removing most of the models from the pictures and just displaying the costume.
