The lading LGBT organization in New York, the Empire State Pride Agenda will disband in early 2016. The organization that has been leading the fight for marriage equality in New York for 25 years says that they’ve completed their mission. The surprising move comes after the group’s unanimous board vote.
According to the New York Times:
“The group said the decision was eased by the accomplishment what it called its “top remaining policy priority” in October, when Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo used his executive powers to extend a 70-year-old anti-discrimination bill to transgender people.“
Empire State Pride Agenda will continue to influence politics, though, as they will exist only through their PAC.
