Esurance Donates $50,000 to Trevor Project

Some of our favorite news comes when companies take social responsibility seriously. (We really hate telling you about money donated to anti-equality groups.) So, we’re glad to report that the personal car insurance compnay, esurance, announced that they will be donating $50,000 to one of our favorite organizations, The Trevor Project. Esurance launched a charitable giving campaign on its Facebook page. For each “Like” the company received they donted $10 to help support the Trevor Lifeline (the 24/7 crisis intervention phone hotline for LGBT youth). The company quickly reached its goal of $50,000 especially after the likes of Perez Hilton, Jonathan Knight, and others helped spread the word via Twitter and Facebook.

Esurance created a video tribute that features individual employees from the company’s Dallas, Sacramento, San Francisco, Sioux Falls, and Tampa offices. The employees thank the Facebook community for their help in reaching their donation goal, and discuss the company’s commitment to The Trevor Project.
