First-Ever First Nation Pride Takes Place in Saskatchewan

For the first time in Saskatchewan history a First Nation pride festival took place. The Beardy’s and Okemasis First Nation held a Two-Spirited Festival that included raising a pride flag and a small parade.

“It wasn’t a tough sell at all,” said band councillor Kevin Seesequasis. “We had a chief and council meeting last week and it was a unanimous vote to do this.”
