First Gay Groups March in St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Boston

It took 114 years, but LGBT groups were able to openly march in Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day. Under rainbow banners, Boston Pride and OutVets marched through South Boston. Roman Catholic dogma has excluded LGBT organizations from the parade for two decades, but finally lifted the ban this weekend to better match the liberal ideologies that prevail in Massachusetts.

And while most cheered the changes, the Knights of Columbus pulled out after the announcement saying the event became “politicized and divisive.” [Reuters]
