If this is the first time you’re hearing the name Marsha P. Johnson, then this new Netflix documentary is about to serve you some knowledge. Once called the “Rosa Parks of the LGBT movement,” Johnson famously took on the establishment in the US (from Stonewall to AIDS) to ensure a better future for all of us. She championed for the often-forgotten transgender community until her life was cut short. Johnson’s body was discovered in the Hudson River, but her legacy will always live on.
Thanks to Netflix, her life is coming alive on screens around the globe on October 6 with the film The Death and Life of Marsha P Johnson.
