Iceland’s Pride is famous for attracting nearly half of the country’s population, and this year, the country seems to be going all out to show just how welcoming they are. As part of the parade route, residents came together to paint the city rainbow—literally. Even the mayor, Dagur Eggertsson, got his hands dirty to make sure the streets were ready for the parade tomorrow (Aug. 8).
“It was lovely. A large number of children lent us a hand and some even brought their own paint brushes,” says Reykjavik Pride director Eva Maria Thorarinsdottir Lange. [BBC]
