France has lifted the archaic ban on gay and bisexual men from donating blood. Beginning next year, blood donors will not be asked if they have had sex with another man in the past 12 months. Gay men can currently donate blood in most of the UK (not in Northern Ireland), Sweden, and the Netherlands.
Currently gay men cannot donate blood in the US, despite mass protest to the discriminatory policy.
