While Canada’s gay penguins are busy being separated, China’s gay penguins are adopting. A popular gay penguin couple in China has recently been given a newly hatched chick to take care of after the chick’s mother was “suffering” after giving birth to twins. “In birds, it doesn’t matter what sex you are. Both sexes are perfectly capable and absolutely necessary to raise a penguin bird,” McGowan said. “It’s not like mammals where only one sex can feed,” said Kevin McGowan of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology in Ithaca, N.Y. to ABCNews.com.

Seems like the penguin couple has received just what they’ve always wanted. It has been reported that the two were notorious egg thieves during the hatching season. [ABC]

Now, we need a gay couple in Happy Feet 3.
