Tourism Toronto is celebrating marriage equality by inviting New York lesbian and gay couples to enter a contest to compete to get married during Toronto’s 2012 Pride Festival. Besides tying the knot Canadian-style the lucky bride and bride or groom and groom will receive two round trip Executive Class airline tickets from New York City to Toronto, wedding attire, hotel accommodations, ground transfers, marriage ceremony during the Pride Parade, and more. The prize valued at more than $10,000.
Toronto’s Pride Festival is among the largest in the world, attracting visitors from all over the globe. We just hope there is enough wedding cake to go around. “Toronto is the first jurisdiction in North America to conduct same-sex marriages and continues to be one of the hottest destinations for gay couples,” said David Whitaker, President & CEO of Tourism Toronto. “We are proud of the decade long legacy of gay marriage in Toronto.”
Find out how to enter the contest after the jump…
Now all you have to do to enter is drag your beau over to 166 8th Avenue in New York City (near Room Service restaurant) from June 1-June 3 and strike your best we-want-to-get-married-in-Toronto pose in front of the large cake installation. Then, all of the photos will be posted on the Tourism Toronto’s Facebook page where each couple is tagged. The winning couple must exhibit charisma, enthusiasm, and a statement submitted on why they’d like to get married during Toronto’s Pride Festival. Be yourselfs, have fun, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
