Gay geeks assemble! Geeks Out, an LGBT self-proclaimed geek community, has plans to boycott the movie-based-on-a-book Enders Game because of the book’s author’s anti-gay beliefs. The author of the best-selling, science-fiction book, Orson Scott Card, may have not been involved in the production of the film, but LGBT moviegoers are still planning on holding onto their money when the film’s released as they believe the writer’s comments must have consequences. Card, who is a member of the anti-gay NOM also made headlines for his interview with Salon in which he said: “I find the comparison between civil rights based on race and supposed new rights being granted for what amounts to deviant behavior to be really kind of ridiculous. There is no comparison. A black as a person does not by being black harm anyone. Gay rights is a collective delusion that’s being attempted.” While Card’s only contribution to the movie was writing the original book, Geeks Out argues that any money given to the movie will directly line the pockets of Card, and if the movie is a success it will spur a franchise that will ultimately make the anti-gay writer wealthier. The boycott website launched reads: “Skip Ender’s Game is a call to action. Do NOT see this movie! Do not buy a ticket at the theater, do not purchase the DVD, do not watch it on-demand. Ignore all merchandise and toys. However much you may have admired his books, keep your money out of Orson Scott Card’s pockets.”

Pledge to not see the movie here.
