The espresso martini has been this year’s hottest cocktail. The combined punch of alcohol, the bitter crispness of espresso, and the perky power of caffeine have proven to be a winning combination. And while espresso martinis tend to be popular drinks to order at bars and lounges, many people don’t know how to make them at home, or feel that they require too much work.
Luckily, Randy Lauwasser, owner of the Fire Island-based coffee company, BEACHBREAK, is here to share his recipe for the perfect (and incredibly simple) espresso martini. The drink is made using BEACHBREAK’s new PR!DE Roast, a medium blend coffee with hints of chocolate, producing an interestingly bold martini. Lauwasser then combines it with coffee liqueur and vodka to really give the drink some kick.
Below, Lauwasser shares his recipe, as well as his advice for creating the perfect cocktail!
BEACHBREAK ESPRESSO MARTINI
Ingredients:
- 4 oz. Vodka
- 2 oz. Coffee Liqueur
- 2 oz. BEACHBREAK Coffee Espresso or Cold Brew Concentrate
- Ice
Instructions:
- Optionally, chill your martini glasses in the freezer for 20 minutes.
- Add the Vodka, Coffee Liqueur and Espresso into a cocktail shaker over ice.
- Shake, Shake, Shake.
- Strain into your favorite martini glass.
- Garnish with three coffee beans and enjoy!
Notes:
It is recommended to cool the espresso before adding it to the shaker so that it doesn’t melt the ice and water down the overall flavor. If you are in a hurry you can put the espresso in the freezer to chill it quickly.
Even better, BEACHBREAK’s PR!DE Roast will be helping out great nonprofit organizations. For all online sales throughout the month of June, proceeds will be going to the Hetrick-Martin Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to helping LGBTQ youth; BOFFO, an organization dedicated to innovative and experimental art; and FIAR, the Fire Island Artist Residency. Buying a bag of PR!DE Blend coffee is a great way to help the LGBTQ community and to keep Fire Island a dazzling and innovative destination.
