GLAAD is calling on TLC—a television network once celebrated by the media watchdog—to cancel their new show about gay men who live heteronormative lives with women called ‘My Husband’s Not Gay.’ The show is set to air in January, but LGBT activists are saying the show sends a destructive message and “promotes the false and dangerous idea that gay people can and should choose to be straight in order to be part of their faith communities.” A petition launched has hit nearly 90,000 who agree with Josh Sanders of Virginia, Beach, who says he began the petition because of his upbringing as a gay christian who was subjected to reparative therapy. “I was promised I could change, and told that I should ‘pray the gay away,'” he says. “In the end, the only thing that this so-called ‘therapy’ did was stoke a growing despair that maybe my life wasn’t worth living.”
