My Kali will make history as one of the first gay magazines to be published in Arabic and be available throughout the Middle East. The online magazine, which has been published in English for the past nine years, will create a double issue.

The history-making issue will feature Yara Kakish, a world-famous Jordanian marital artist.

According to the founder Khalid Abdel-Hadi, the magazine was originally created in English out of safety concerns, considering being gay can be criminalized in many Middle Eastern countries, but over the years the magazine became more widely known and people began requesting it in Arabic. He ultimately decided to launch this issue in two languages because the English-only magazine “…didn’t reflect the geography it represented nor was it fair for Arabic speakers who couldn’t read our content,” he told GSN.
