Help Support Gay Couple Stabbed in Denver Hate-Crime Attack

A young gay couple was stabbed in an attack being investigated as a hate crime in Denver, Colorado, and the two need our community’s help. Christopher Giovanni Huizar, 19, and Gabriel Enrique Roman, 23, went to Church Nightclub on Saturday night and upon leaving they were initially verbally assaulted by an unidentified man who then stabbed the two in the neck, back, and hand.

One of the boys talked to Gay Star News about what happened that evening.

He said: “When we passed an alley, someone screamed “fucking faggots” and stabbed me in the neck. I didn’t even know I was stabbed – it felt like a punch,” he said.

After pushing his boyfriend out of the way, Roman was stabbed in the hand and after running away, they were stabbed again in the back.

Luckily they got away from the man and pedestrians saw the two bleeding on the street. Roman received 30 internal stitches and 52 on his hand.

Huizar said that the couple is not “letting him define us. We love each other and wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone.”

Despite this, the two need our help. A GoFundMe has been set up to help with hospital bills.
