Hillary Clinton Takes Stage at The Center Dinner to Demand Action for Gay Men in Chechnya

“You cannot repress or arrest people that do not exist,” Hillary Clinton told a crowd at The Center dinner in New York City. Clinton made a rousing speech showing that her compassion and interest in the LGBT community comes long after her historic presidential run ended. Clinton used her time on stage to call further attention to the atrocities happening in Chechnya, and demanded that the Trump Administration do something to protect human rights around the world. “In recent weeks we’ve heard terrifying accounts from Chechnya of gay and bisexual men being taken from their homes and families, tortured, even killed,” she said.

“I think we have to face the fact that we may not ever be able to count on this administration to lead on LGBT issues,” she said.
