Filmmaker John Greyson, who directed Lilies and several episodes of Queer as Folk in 2001 and 2002, along with Dr. Tarek Loubani have begun a hunger strike on September 16. Their arrest on August 16 has been widely criticized by the international community and fellow actors like Ben Affleck, Sarah Polley, Atom Egoyan, Alex Gibney, actors Charlize Theron, Alec Baldwin and Danny Glover, and author Michael Ondaatje. On August 16, the two entered a police station to ask for directions, and the two never left. At the time they were headed to Gaza where Loubani works as a doctor and Greyson was to begin working on a documentary. Both have not yet been charged with any crime. A new website has been set up tarekandjohn.com  that contains a petition with over 100,000 signatures urging the Egyption government to release them. [Boston]
