In yet another blow to the lesbian and gay community of India, India’s Cabinet may ban gays from adopting children. In amending the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, the cabinet sought to add a banning gays and lesbians from adopting as the current act allows any Indian, male or female, above the age of 30to adopt, and it makes no mention of LGBT individuals. This could all change when the new draft of the Act is presented. Currently,LGBT foreigners are banned from adopting LGBT children.

Just last year the Indian Supreme Court, reinstated a colonial-era ban on homosexuality and prohibits consenting adults from legally having homosexual relationships.
